Travelling with Power Banks

In line with updated aviation safety regulations, new restrictions are now in place regarding the use of power banks (portable battery chargers) when travelling by air. These measures are designed to reduce the risk of battery‑related incidents on board and to help keep our passengers, crew, and aircraft safe.

Please review the information below before travelling.

Where Power Banks Can Be Packed

Power banks must be carried in carry‑on baggage only. They are not permitted in checked baggage under any circumstances. This allows crew members to quickly respond in the unlikely event of an issue during the flight.

Protection and Safe Storage

Each power bank must be individually protected to prevent short circuits when not in use. Acceptable methods include placing the power bank in its original retail packaging, using a protective case or pouch, covering exposed terminals, or storing each power bank separately in a plastic bag. Damaged, swollen, or recalled power banks should not be brought on board.

Use of Power Banks On Board

For safety reasons:

  • Power banks cannot be recharged on board the aircraft
  • Power banks should not be used to charge phones, tablets, or other devices during the flight
  • Crew members may ask that power banks remain stored during the flight to ensure safety.

Quantity Limits

A maximum of two power banks per passenger is permitted. Power banks must also meet size and rating limits established under international aviation safety regulations.
