Named for fictional character Josiah Flintabbatey Flonatin from the 1905 novel The Sunless City by J.E. Preston Muddock, Flin Flon was originally established as mining hub for the area’s copper and zinc ore. It’s home to the historic Flin Flon Bombers junior hockey team that’s iced multiple hockey legends like Bobby Clarke.

Recently, it’s grown into a community with an active arts and culture scene, including a huge annual celebration of Culture Days. It’s also surrounded by lush wilderness and hiking or cross-country skiing trails depending on the time of year.

Calm Air is a longtime sponsor of hockey in Flin Flon, particularly with the Flin Flon Bomers junior hockey team. They also sponsor local events like the Flin Flon Trout Festival in summer.
