Senior Manager of Maintenance Quality - Winnipeg, MB

Position:  Senior Manager of Maintenance Quality
Location:  Winnipeg, MB

Applicants are invited to apply for the Senior Manager of Maintenance Quality position in Winnipeg, MB. This position will be responsible to ensure the Maintenance department complies with airworthiness requirements.  They will also be responsible for long term maintenance forecasting, scheduling, planning and oversight within the Maintenance department as well as the logistics involved with these tasks. This position will build strong, operational cohesiveness within the maintenance bases and departments.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure maintenance department complies with airworthiness requirements;
  • Ensure airworthiness directives are actioned accordingly;
  • Ensure all maintenance publications are reviewed and actioned as required;
  • Ensure all STC documentation is cataloged and up to date and a review is completed every 6 months;
  • Completing follow up of heavy check paperwork including CPCP findings and forwarding;
  • Assist with all major modifications and repairs and ensure documentation post-mod or repair is filed as required;
  • Responsible for overseeing the upkeep of dent and buckle logs;
  • Chair and document maintenance regulatory review process;
  • Responsible for overseeing and ensuring all procedures for recording and submitting Service Difficulty Reports is carried out in accordance with CAR 521, Division IX;
  • Responsible for overseeing that aircraft empty weight and balance reports/amendments are carried out correctly and filed as required;
  • Responsible for overseeing the performing of long-term forecasts (more than one week) of major aircraft components and rotables, which can include, engines, landing gear, propellers;
  • Responsible for overseeing the performing long-term forecasts of aircraft heavy maintenance visits.  E.g. C-Check, yearly checks, cycle driven checks;
  • Responsible for overseeing the building of work packages for aircraft heavy maintenance visits;
  • Responsible for overseeing the timely completion of tasks;
  • Responsible for Maintenance Operations Control staffing and Backfilling for Maintenance Operational Control Managers during vacation;
  • Assist in ongoing company projects as required;
  • Carrying out Quality Assurance functions as directed by the Director of Quality & Safety;
  • Assisting with and supporting all policies and procedures in regard to the Calm Air SMS Program, as outlined in the company Safety Management Manual, CAV-1001;
  • Safe working practices;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Safety & Leadership:

Managers, Supervisors, and Leads – have been delegated the authority and are responsible to the Department Head to actively identify hazards and deficiencies and report through the SMS (Safety Management System) Program reporting system.  Communicate with all personnel within their respective department and other departments as required to maintain effective day to day activities.  Ensure regulatory and company standards are maintained.  Assist in the development and maintenance of company processes and procedures. (Quality Assurance activities)

  • Change management leader – execute change while supporting employees through communication listening and actioning;
  • Lead and develop all purchasing/stores employees;
  • Ensure any incidents are reported through the safety management system;
  • Actively support the safety management system by following SMS processes and encouraging a safety reporting culture in your department;
  • Promote occupational health and safety within your department, and participate in the development and monitoring of safety training;
  • Proactively communicate hazards and SMS initiatives with your department;
  • Embark on employment equity initiatives; engaging with all employees to promote employment equity and encouraging employees to undertake the self-declaration survey updating as necessary;
  • All levels of the organization share responsibility for human rights within the organization; overseeing and promoting continuous improvement on human rights and employment equity initiatives.

 Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Must possess a valid AME license
  • Must pose valid security clearances
  • Previous leadership/supervisory experience an asset
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent knowledge of Winair is an asset and must be computer literate
  • Good interpersonal and practical communication skills required
  • Travel required
