Position:    Ground Service Equipment Mechanic
Location:   Winnipeg, MB
Status:        Full Time
Start Date: Immediately

Position Summary:

The Ground Service Equipment (GSE) Journeyman repairs, troubleshoots, adjusts, overhauls and maintains all Calm Air International heavy-duty equipment in all locations as needed.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Complete maintenance and or services on company vehicles and ground equipment. This may include baggage carts, boarding ramps, Honda generators, GPU’s, Bobcats, small Cat equipment, forklifts & Kubota’s
  • Diagnose and repair all company equipment safely and according to specifications
  • Troubleshoot to diagnose problems
  • Inspect equipment
  • Test repaired equipment to ensure proper performance
  • Maintain proper maintenance reports/documentation
  • Performs routine preventive maintenance on company equipment
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work
  • Request parts and maintain inventory
  • Travel required to various work sites within Manitoba and Nunavut
  • Other duties as assigned

Hours of Work

  • Shift work is required and may include mornings/afternoons, evenings and weekends
  • Applicants must be available to work mornings, afternoons/evenings, and weekends on a rotational basis as per operational requirements

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent (GED)
  • Current Heavy-Duty Mechanic Red Seal
  • 3-5 years’ experience
  • Valid class 5 driving license
  • Travel required – approximately 50%
  • Computer skills (MS Office with focus on Excel)
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Previous experience in aviation considered an asset
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Enhanced Security Clearance pass
